1/3/12 – Great show at Avant Garden featuring belly dance, tribal and flamenco; many thanks to Jenna and Mike for hosting this monthly event ! Performers starting the new year right included Tammy & Giselle, Kat & Jennifer, Kate, Pat & Wenning, and Jenna!

 


12/11/11 – thank you to the Raks Latino team of Sal, Silvia and Alesha for a terrific workshop and show. We learned so much and hope to see you back at the studio very soon
12/6/11 – Pat’s beginning flamenco students Leilany and Jessika made their dancing debut in Jenna Ali and Mike Garcia’s holiday show at Avant Garden. We love this dancer friendly venue and encourage everyone to come out and support the monthly shows of Jenna and Mike
12/3/11 - Sirrom’s Holiday Party was a smashing success with over 19 acts ! Thanks to all that performed and came to watch our fabulous, hardworking students

11/29/11 – A special thank you to flamenco superstar Domingo Ortega for sharing his talent with us at Sirrom. We look forward to his next visit to Houston!

 

10/20-10/23/11 - Thank you to Antonio Hidalgo for teaching a fabulous seminar! We learned so much and will look forward to him returning next year.

 


9/24/11 - Sirrom Studio performed at the annual St. Joseph Catholic Church Fall Festival. Dancers from Sarin's Sirens, Linda's advanced class and Company Sirrom Studio performed to a welcoming audience. We always enjoy performing at this festival!
9/22/11 - Lokelani performed a hula show and gave a hula lesson to West University Seniors! She was a big hit and the seniors had fun learning the hula.
9/21/11 - Flamenco seminar with Niurca Marquez is underway. Niurca is incorporating impovisation in her classes. Besides the regular seminar classes, Niurca has been teaching many private lesssons to those wanting to work further on their technique.

9/9/11 – Another fabulous drum jam lead by Ken aka Tulo of Gypsy Dance Theatre! Many, many thanks to all who supported our campaign to donate items to a local shelter as part of our 9/11 remembrance in conjunction with Compassionate Houston.

 

8/31/11 – Sirrom Studio is proud to be a Compassionate Partner as part of the City of Houston’s 9/11 remembrance.
8/20/11 – “Shimmy or Bust’ fundraiser for our own Sal Vanegas was a huge success! Enough money was raised for Sal to compete in London in September. Thanks to all who attended, all who purchased raffle tickets, and all who performed. It was an evening to remember as the community came together to support Sal.
8/12/11 - Welcome back to our renters Kusum, Padmini, and Angela as they return from their summer breaks.

8/8/11 – Congratulations to Broadway Bound Youth Musical Theater on another successful season. We enjoyed all the shows, the kids and having the Monroe family with us.
8/7/11 – Antonio Arrebola workshop was a big thrill for the flamenco students. Many thanks to our friends Irma and Jeremy of Solero Flamenco for sponsoring Antonio.
8/1/11 – good luck to the Halo Foundation and the Houston Film Commission’s Amazing Awesomefest on their upcoming events. Sirrom Studio donated classes for each event’s silent auction.
8/1/11 - Renovations to studio E are almost complete. This will be an additional space to be used for small classes or for practice.

 

7/31/11 - Pat is back from a flamenco seminar in Miami where she took classes with Maria Juncal and Alfonso Losa from Spain. Wonderful seminar!

 

5/14 – Mother Daughter Party

5/8 thru 5/11 – Flamenco students learned so much in the seminar with Estefania and Antonio. Ole!

5/7 – Flamenco DEL SUR was absolutely fabulous! Audience members were treated to a special performance starring Antonio Granjero, Estefania Ramirez and Company.

 

4/29 thru 5/1 – Sirrom Studio was transformed into the Kit Kat Club for Broadway Bound Youth Musical Theatre Company's production of Cabaret

4/19 – Sirrom Studio is now a member of Dance Source Houston!  We love Dance Source and all they do for the dance community in Houston!

4/17 – We manned a cheering station at our favorite spot, Under the Volcano, to support the walkers in the annual Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. Saw pink everywhere we looked – it was a fabulous show of support for the walkers

4/9 – Sirrom Studio dancers were in Dunlavy Park as one of the mystery stops in the Great Urban Race. Contestants learned a few dance moves from Sirrom Studio dancers. Proceeds from the race were donated to the Houston Food Bank.

4/7 – I.aM.mE made its debut on MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew. I.aM.mE rehearsed at Sirrom Studio prior to its successful audition for the show. Keep voting for this talented hip hop group! They deserve to win!

4/1 – we had the April Fool’s Drum Jam ! Lots of fun, people dressed in costumes, and we had the magic screen back for those that wanted to dance in secret behind the screen


3/13 - The Sirrom Studio dancers and crew manned a cheering station at the annual Aids Walk sponsored by the Aids Foundation of Houston. It was a terrific day for the Allen Parkway walk! We enjoyed cheering on the walkers as they raised money for the Aids Foundation.

 

2/23 - Samba class with Sal is drawing an enthusiastic group!  We are dancing to the samba rhythm, learning some new moves each week, and having a samba dance-off at the end of class.  Great exercise and great teacher!

2/20 - Flamenco workshop with La China from Spain was a wonderful experience.  Angela Arteritano brought La China to us for a 3 day workshop.  La China is a legend and we were lucky to have her with us.

2/20 - Broadway Bound Youth Musical Theatre’s  new production  was a hit! The actors are charming and we really enjoy having them at the studio.  Welcome back to the Monroe family!

2/5 - Fun, fun, fun Hip Hop Seminar with Philip ‘Pacman’ Chbeeb and special appearances by Chachi and Moon all of IME cre.

 

1/20 - We're off to a busy 2011!  Already we have had a tremendous drum jam with Mike Garcia as our guide, an inspiring 4-day flamenco workshop with Antonio Granjero and Estefania Ramirez, welcomed several new renters including Flamenco King of the Bulerias Timo Lozano, Hybrid Rhythms (Bollywood), FIT club, IME Hip Hop crew, and country western teacher Steve Divekar of Dance Baytown. 

 

On top of that, we have finished our remodeling and the transformation is quite simply astounding! Our old friends won't recognize us. There is lots of new energy and excitement at the studio.
