3/5/10 – Mike did an amazing job leading the March drum jam! Folks came from far and wide to join in the music making and dancing to the live drums.  Kudos to the wonderful violinist who enchanted us with his playing.  Former teacher Angelique came by with her daughter who looked perfect in her harem pants and hip sash.  Miriam and Sal wowed the crowd with a Samba styled dance.  Sal will also be performing at the Jim Boz show on March 20. 

3/4/10 – Maria Fernanda’s flamenco cuadro class is wonderful.  Maria played the cajon (box drum) Thursday in class while we each came up with our own footwork interpretation of the rhythm she was playing. We then added arm movements and palmas (clapping).  It is challenging and exhilarating all at once.  There is nothing like dancing to live music to make you stretch your limits of expression. Add to all that the class attire of the students – quite dramatic in all black.  And then you see the shoes.  Some students do opt for traditional black shoes but others go for color – red, purple, turquoise, even lime green!  

3/3/10 – The play “The New Century” is funny, funny, funny!  We are thrilled to have the production at Sirrom Studio.  This is a don’t miss event!  

2/27/2010 - Patsi had us moving in Bollywood class!  We danced a choreography from an Indian  movie and learned some of the famous Bollywood stylings like head slides and eye movements, “beating heart” and the “kohl around my eyes”.  It was great fun and I can’t wait for next week’s class!

2/21/2010 - Student Night - Opa!  What a great show last night!  Several dancing debuts were made it was such fun to see new stars being born. 

2/21/2010 - Excitement is brewing for the yoga/veil class with Halimah!  Pat and Debbie got a sneak preview and this will be one fabulous class.  This is yoga with an innovative twist -- veils -- that's right, the belly dancing veils we use in class are used to strength and compliment yoga poses.  Great core work which we all need as dancers. 

2/11/2010 - Best Birthday wishes to Joy and special shout out to her gal pals at Hotel ZaZa!  from Debbie and Pat- we had a blast teaching private lessons at your birthday party at ZaZa!

Enjoyed hosting bachelorette party at studio for bride Brandy.  Best wishes to her on her wedding day!

Jenna and Mike had a ball performing at Xenobia’s wedding at Hotel Icon.  The bride and groom and guests joined in the dancing with Jenna while Mike played his doumbek. 

Lexi danced at a private birthday party for Liliana at her home in Missouri City.  It was a big surprise and enjoyed by all!

Surprise gifts of class cards were ordered by phone for Rachel, Nichol and Leticia.  What great gifts!

Francisca’s holiday party featured specialities of the Middle East and included a Sirrom Studio belly dancer and drummer.

A private birthday party at Saidi’s restaurant featured entertainment by a Sirrom Studio dancer.

2/9/2010 - Flamenco seminar review - Antonio Granjero and Estefania Ramirez were inspiring and dazzling in flamenco seminar classes yesterday!  Flamenco students are raving about the opportunity to study with 2 flamenco dance masters at Sirrom Studio.

2/9/2010 - Teenie Genies - Teenie Genie children’s belly dance class with Ahliana is a lot of fun! Class meets at 1pm Sunday, the same time as adult beginning belly dance.  Moms, drop the “teenie genies” in their classroom and then head to the adult class. 

2/5/2010 - Maria's flamenco/belly dance fusion class - Flamenco/Belly Dance Fusion class is a big hit!  We had a great time in class last night merging the 2 styles of dance into a fun, upbeat choreography. 

2/4/2010 - Shimmy into spring with a new hip sash - Sirrom Studio received a new shipment of hip sashes!  Get yours now in great colors for spring!
