2/26/2011 - Workshop with Ava Flemning

Momo Kadous returns to Sirrom Studio Saturday, 9/11 and Sunday, 9/12

Join us on Saturday, 9/11, and Sunday, 9/12, for classes with the Middle Eastern master choreographer Momo Kadous.

Saturday's class will be from noon to 2 pm featuring an Egyptian pop routine. (And those are always fun!)

Sunday's class will be 10 am to 3 pm, with a 1-hour lunch. 

Have you always wanted to study with the fabulous Linda, teacher of the advanced belly dance class on Monday nights?  Now is your chance.  Linda is teaching the Sunday beginner belly dancing class at 1 pm, followed by an intermediate belly dancing class at 2 pm.  

Flamenco palmas and structure class for all ages and levels of flamenco dancers on Thursdays 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

This is not a dance class.  It is a class for learning how to do the complicated palmas (clapping) that accompanies flamenco performers. You will learn how to recognize the various flamenco rhythms and the particular dance structure for each rhythm.  

Note:  If you are interested in children's flamenco classes, please call the studio for the time of the class.

Flamenco with Paola Torrado on Thursdays

Learn flamenco from Paola Torrado on Thursdays.  Flamenco/Belly dance fusion at 6 is a little of both dance forms to get you use to moving to Spanish fusion music.  Flamenco cuadro at 7 teaches you how to perform to live music, Intermediate choreography is at 8.

Tribal X2 with Jenny starting Saturday, August 7.

Join us for the continuation of our Artist-in-Residence series with another Tribal Fusion class with Jenny. 

The continuation of the TRIBAL X2 will help you fine tune the fundamentals, such as posture, snaky arms and shimmies. Fast-paced and fun, the drills covered will compliment the edgy combos taught at the end of class to the rakin music. Jenny strives to maintain an all-encompassing sisterhood with positive energy in her classes.

Time: noon to 1:00 pm; cost $100 for the series or $20 per class. 

Children and Adult Classical Indian Dance and Bollywood Classes Start This Saturday, August 7

We welcome Kusum Sharma director of Shri Natraj School of Dance to the studio! Kusum will be teaching  children and adult classes starting this Saturday, August 7:

noon to 1 pm - young girls (ages 4 to 7) Kathak class (a form of classical Indian dance)

1 pm to 2 pm - older girls (ages 8 to 14) Kathak class (a form of classical Indian dance)

2 pm to 3 pm - ladies over 21 Bollywood and semi-classical dance

Please call the studio on Thursdays to confirm that the drum class will be held.

Do I need to pre-register for class? Most of the time, no, just check the class schedule and show up.  For special classes, such as Artist-in-Residence and workshops, it's recommended that you pre-register so you are guaranteed a spot. 

What should I wear to class? Something comfortable that you can exercise in.  

How many times a week do you have beginning belly dance? We offer 9 beginner belly dance classes during the week.

When can I start a class? Any time.

What is the cost of a belly dance class? The price can range from $17 for a walk-in regular 1-hour class or as low as $10 if you buy a Platinum package.  Check out the Rates page for more information on belly dancing class rates and other class rates.

Tango Milonga 

Join the tango revolution and attend the tango milonga at Sirrom Studio on the 4^th Saturday of every month from 10 pm - 2 am (yes, these people party late!).
